The UMD Virtual Agent is a Generative AI (GenAI) chatbot. UMD Virtual Agents are an advanced type of artificial intelligence that uses machine learning, particularly natural language processing (NLP), to engage in human-like conversations. Unlike traditional rule-based chatbots, which rely on predefined scripts and responses, GenAI chatbots generate responses in real-time based on the context and content of the conversation.
